The faff of applying - and paying - for a tourist visa is enough to put many off visiting a destination, and the Government has been strongly urged to ensure we retain visa-free travel to Europe after Brexit.
Britons, as it stands, possess one of the world's most powerful passports. We're able to visit 173 countries out of a possible 218 without securing a visa, according to the latest annual report by the citizenship and planning firm Henley & Partners. That leaves just 45 destinations that require the rigmarole of form filling before you can jump on the plane.
So spare a thought for citizens of Syria, Pakistan, Iraq and Afghanistan, each of which have visa-free access to fewer than 30 countries.
